Takes the .40-72 Winchester, also known as .40-72 WCF is a centerfire straight-walled rifle cartridge designed for black powder rather than smokeless powder. It was introduced in 1895 for the Winchester 1895 lever-action rifle. Could not find a serial number. Embossed 40-72 W.C.F. on the barrel, Winchester 1895 on the stock, Manufactured by Winchester New Haven Conn. USA. Some burn marks on stock. Hammer not cocking properly, won't stay cocked. 25.25" barrel, 45" long overall. Olde patina finish, some rust, wear to finish.
